Frank Merigliano was an all-state baseball player at Shaler Area high school. After receiving a baseball scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 1988.   Armed with a high 90's fastball, Merigliano pitched 7 seasons with the SOX where he was a two time minor league all star. After a series of elbow injuries ended his playing career, Merigliano became an avid student of proper throwing mechanics. Through his work with the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) in Birmingham, Alabama he developed a program that maximizes velocity and reduces the stress on the elbow and shoulder joints. A full time baseball instructor for the last 15 years, Merigliano has given well over 30,000 individual lessons. His experience, knowledge and thorough understanding of throwing mechanics have allowed him to attract most of the areas top pitching prospects.

Ryan Flanagan played baseball at Baldwin High school. He attended Garrett College in Western Maryland on a baseball scholarship. An outstanding defensive catcher with a rocket arm, Flanagan caught the eye of Darrin Mazeroski (son of Pgh Legend Bill Mazeroski) at an Arizona Diamond Backs workout. Mazeroski offered Flanagan a scholarship to play at powerhouse Gulf Coast College in Panama City, Florida where he became a force on the pitcher's mound. With a 95mph fastball and knee buckling curve, Flanagan was drafted by the Aneheim Angels in 1998.   He returned to Gulf Coast for another season and signed with the Minnesota Twins in 1999. After a promising start with the Twins, Flanagan suffered a major shoulder injury that ended his playing career. With his playing days behind him, Flanagan made the seemless transition to professional instructor. For the last 10 years his unique understanding of pitching, catching and hitting mechanics make him one of the areas most sought after instructors.

Dom Merigliano was an all W.P.I.A.L  baseball player at Shaler Area high school. A standout defensive player, he followed his older brother Frank to the University of Pittsburgh on a baseball scholarship. A career high 300's hitter at Pitt, Merigliano played 2nd base, Short stop, and 3rd base for the Panthers. After earning his B.S. in Biology, Merigliano returned to Pitt to receive two post graduate degrees. His tireless work in the classroom led to his interminable study of hitting mechanics. Merigliano's complete understanding of the bio mechanical breakdown of the swing allows him to recognize flaws and quickly make adjustments in his students' swing. His easy going personality allows him to transition between young players and older students and get outstanding results with each. His philosophy and ability to teach hitters to use the opposite side of the field have resulted in his students being among the W.P.I.A.L 's  top hitters year after year.
